The Engagement story

...due to the request of my fiance, I will now share the engagement story :)

where do I begin? hmm.. Let's do a time frame:

Jan. 18th 2007 :Andrew and I started dating. (that's another great story) We said at the beginning that we were "dating for the purpose of marriage" or to put it more clearly, to see if we were "compatable for marriage."

Nov. 6 2007: About 2 weeks before our 10 month anniversary the answer became clear. Yes we were compatable. Yes we both wanted to marry the other. I said to Andrew, "I don't want to just be married, I want to be married to you."

Nov 13th 2007: We were going to continue talking about this when Andrew was councelled to "put his money where his mouth is." There needed to be the commitment in place before we could start planning. I'm a little bummed out, but I pray to God and ask Him for patience and become willing to wait to continue to talking about marriage. Well...Andrew- he's a keaner. I love that about him. He was like, (from what I can tell) "yes I wanna marry this girl, I need to start moving." So that night he called my sister, and then he called my parents to see if he could come to Bville to "talk to them."

Nov 14th 2007: Andrew drives to Aurora for an appointment that I knew about. What I didn't know was that that same day, he picked out a ring for me and then drove to Brockville to ask my parents if he could marry me.

Nov 15th 2007: After Andrew had stayed at my parents house in Maitland over night, he went back to Aurora to tell his mom his plans. Then proceeded to drive to Guelph to go to a class we both have. I knew nothing of his adventures.

Nov 16ht 2007: Andrew picks up the ring in Toronto.

Nov 17th, 2007: I drive home with my siblings to spend time with Kelly before she was heading off to Switzerland. My whole family knew of Andrew's plan to propose. I was clueless.

Nov 18th, 2007: I return from Maitland with my siblings. A very frustating adventure. My li'l bro was sick (like vomiting sick) the whole way and the sun was beating down on me and I had a headache and a paper that I needed to write. Little did I know of what was in store...

(now we're going to a time period by hours...stay with me)

7:00- Andrew comes to the door to pick me up for a 10 month anniversary dinner. He arrives with roses. My roomie points out there are only 9 and asks why. Andrew says, "we'll just have to wait and see." I think nothing of a proposal... that would be too soon.

7:30- takes me to Carden st. Cafe downtown. A really nice meal. We talk about normal things. He is calm and cool. He pays for my meal and I think he's going to drive me home.

8:45 ish- Andrew asks if we can go for a bit of a walk. I'm wondering if he realizes I have two papers to write! haha. Andrew tells me that since it's cold out he would love to just go for a walk with me in Old Quebec St Mall downtown Guelph.

8:50 ish- We walk in. Andrew goes over to a white planter on the side. He pulls out a red rose. And with it is a verse. He does this with two other roses (well actually just one more, one of them got lost)

These were the verses:

Rev 4 something (this was the one lost. The idea was to start with God. That He is this awesome and worthy God)
Titus 2:11-14
Col 3:12, 14-17

I'm still not thinking that Andrew is proposing. I think "Wow, this is really nice. But a little intense for 10 months. How will he top this when he proposes?"

Then... He goes to another planter and pulls out a white rose.

"The 12 red roses you have received tonight represent love. This last white rose is to represent purity. As the Holy One of God, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has loved the church and given himself up for her, so I seek to love and cherish you."

I clue in FINALLY. He's proposing!
I see that Andrew has gotten down on one knee. He says "Suzanne, I love you. Will you marry me?"

I said, "Yes!"
